Ford F-150 Series Mobile Office in Cab

Author: Lance Winslow

Ford in order to prop up sales is allowing dealerships to offer their customers of their F-150 Light Pick-ups a Stargate mobile office system, which turns their work truck into a mobile command center office on wheels. The system will include a wireless connection, computer, GPS system and workstation. The system debuted at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. SEMA is The Specialty Equipment Market Association. The system could be available as soon as the New Years 2006 at a price of between $3,000 and $5,000 for new truck buyers of any of the "F" Series Pick-ups and they are shooting for the F-250 Series for the construction trade and the F-150 series for the small business owner. Over sixty percent of the buyers of F-series trucks use them for business.

By the end of 2006 this system could be a factory-installed system. The truck battery or an optional additional battery on board powers the Stargate Mobile Computer system. The stand sits between the passenger and driver and can fold away when not in use. The system will be installed and run on Microsoft's Windows XP, as they have teamed with Ford to bring this system to Ford Buyers of the F-series pick-ups. The computer has a touch screen system and can be removed for meetings or use inside the home or office.

The system also has a Windows Upgrade called "Windows Automotive 5.0" which will be used in 18-models in the next two-years. The system will also give communications systems and traffic reports in real time. Wow, that would really help our small businesses wouldn't it? Think about this.
