Kentucky Cycling and Long Distance Rides; Williamsburg to Bowling Green

Author: Lance Winslow

For those diehard and hardcore cyclists, it is obvious that Kentucky is a great state for long distance bicycle rides. One ride particularly fun is the run from Williamsburg to Bowling Green, as it is such a scenic and beautiful ride and 130 miles ought to keep you busy for the day and any more is really an ass flattener anyway!

Start off from Williamsburg in the morning ride your 10-mile warm up to Pine Knot and just incase you are wondering what the terrain will be like for our warm-up a tiny town in between is names Holly Hill. The next 25 miles to Moticello is more of the same terrain, no less no more and as we head West down Hwy 90 about 15 miles to Cartright you then know why Kentucky Folks are so blessed to live in such a beautiful states.

Cartright to Glasgow, KY is about 40 more miles on Hwy 90 and then we transfer onto Hwy 68 and into Bowling Green. If you care to Russellville it is only another 20 miles and I think we should; In fact I vote for another 20-miles on top of that to round out the day and rest in Hopkinsville. Kentucky serves its cyclists well with so many great routes to take. Perhaps you will consider this on in 2006.
