It is especially vital that golfers who wear glasses keep their heads perfectly still. I found out just how important once I started wearing glasses myself. Before I got my first pair of glasses I had little sympathy for other golfers who did have to wear them. But once I started wearing glasses it changed how I held my head through a golf shot. I know that the golf coaches will tell you to hold your head perfectly still throughout the golf swing. But I found that quite challenging to do if I wanted a full shoulder turn. So sometimes I would turn my head slightly. As long as I kept focused on the ball through the strike I found that it worked ok. But not so with glasses. Not only do the frames become an irritation but I found a slight turn of my head shifted my line of vision from through the glasses to outside the glasses. Suddenly the golf ball - a challenging little beast to begin with - became fuzzy. In focus to out of focus. So I found that the only way I can get consistency is to look through the center of my glasses. No tilting of the head. Then I have to keep the golf ball focused through the center of my glasses throughout the swing. I have lost some shoulder swing but at least I don't miss the golfball - well no more than usual anyway. One of these days I'll have to try contact lens but that's another story. |
