Parable Dusk. Streaks of purple light smear the sky. The snow is melting yet still covers everything a cozy blanket of cold pinpricks on the wet muddy earth. Gazing out mythird floor studio window I see the winter-hidden labyrinth outlined on the lawn.A labyrinth is a circular maze with one path to the center. It is a spiritual tool for contemplation, to be walked slowly and reflectively. Yet, in this hazy period between light and dark, it is still heaped with snow. The path is hidden. The path will not reveal itself until Nature waves her hand. The sun will melt the snow, the water will run and sift through the cracks the labyrinth will appear. Then, we can walk slowly, assuredly to the center. Principle We must prepare to meet our life path through the best physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual practices (PEMS). However, it only reveals itself to us when it is ready. We prepare so that when it arrives, it is like meeting a beloved friend again! Meeting our life path is a homecoming. We cannot force this homecoming, only prepare for it. Practice i. What are your best 2-3 physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual practices? Make a list of actions you are currently taking in each category to prepare yourself daily for your path to be revealed. ii. What are you forcing in your life right now? What is the consequence of using force versus mindful preparation? iii. Write out what you think your life path is in 2-3 sentences. Does it excite, ignite, and inspire you? What could you do right now to act upon some of the ideas in your life path statement? Paradigm We must be ready to meet our path. We ready ourselves by engaging in the best physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual practices. We cannot force our path to reveal itself to us. One day, after diligent preparation, we wake up and it has arrived the center of the labyrinth. Rob Levit www.roblevit.com 410-263-8779 |
