Some people believe that people who pray live happier and healthier lives and you'll never guess who says this? Those that pray of course. This is an utter hokum and simply untrue. In fact those that keep their minds and bodies active live happier and healthier lives regardless of whether they pray or not. The individual who mention this to meet recently is a Bible Thumper to the max. After getting to know the individual I also found out he is a complete hypocrite. Of course this is nothing new to religious belief, as many people but not all of them who are religious are indeed hypocrites in so many ways. This individual indicated that people who pray to God consistently will age slower and that they will be healthier. This is not true. For instance, I am a very young forty-year-old and I have not been to a doctor in 20 years and I am in perfect shape. Also, people who are hypocrites know what they are doing and they live with guilt, which is a terrible burden. This does not happen with all people who pray to God, but a good percentage of them with such an invisible friend. And it is quite common in many religions and they make sure that guilt exist to hold the flock together to collect tithing. This individual also indicated that those who pray to a God can handle life's challenges and adversities better. I completely and totally disagree and I have watched many religious people break down at the first sign of adversity showing their complete and utter weakness and failing to live up to the situation and deal with it. I find this to be weak, meek and unacceptable. Now of course this is not everyone who prays to God, but I have seen it enough times to make me think twice about anyone who would claim that those that pray to God are better than those that don't. It simply is not so. |
