A Message to Cambodians and Asians: Breaking Our Status Quo!

Author: Vicheka Lay

To me, I have never believed the to-all-cornered human equality as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but this does not mean, "I will not believe the to-all-cornered human equality." I do believe in future to-all-cornered human equality, because my country's and other Asian countries' states of affairs are bringing me high stank of positive future miracle for Cambodia and Cambodians, Asia and Asians.

The title: "Breaking our status quo!" just intends to provoke all Asians, especially Cambodians to get up and strive for tomorrow.

The term Cambodians or collectively, "Asians" seems to be accompanied with innate discriminations and stigmatization in itself and such the stated discriminations and stigmatizations are: idleness, sluggishness, weakness, status quo, cowardice, mental numbs, lack and shortage, and finally doing less, but demanding more.

Are these the stereotypes or norms of Cambodians or Asians? Yes or no is not the matter of this article. This article is to remind all the Asians, especially Cambodians to perspire for materialistic and intellectual prosperity, for to-all-corned equal to other human persons in other parts of the world.

We are not endowed with those mental barricades (idleness, mental numbs, weakness, etc), but we are innately equal to any people in all corners of the world. What I stated here is not just to reiterate others' self-motivation quotes, but is the truth.

I have never believed that Cambodians and Asians are born to be workers, waiters, house servants, weak, unemployed, poor or just awaiting donations from other richer continents and that other people in other parts of the world are born to be bosses. No God, document, philosopher or beggar say that Cambodians and Asians are born to be workers. By knowing this genuine truth, it is time for us to urge for that truth to happen. Do not be scared to be ambitious, because all of Cambodians and Asians are, by law, natural law and God, are endowed with to-all-cornered equality to all other human persons in the entire world.

Everyday, I hear Cambodian and About-Asian news, world record-breakers, international political and economic players, movie stars and almost all other sectors are dominated by North Americans or the West, but rarely Cambodians or Asians. Why this is the case? There is only one answer to this question: We never aspire and perspire enough to stand on their (the West's and North Americans') stages.

I am always negatively intriguing of hearing that Europe donates millions of dollars to Cambodians, Korea provides thousands of used computers to Cambodian students, Asians always run far behind the Western students in the universities or the world's best countries are just amongst the North America or Europe. It is time for us to break this status quo, which is totally produced by us (we fell that they are strong and they feel that they are strong, so they are much and much stronger, but they feel that we are weak and we, ourselves, feel that we are weak, so we are definitely weaker and weaker). Let us, Cambodians and Asians, feel anew!

This article is single-mindedly to provoke all Cambodians and Asians to feel further and furthest, to demand bigger and biggest and to endlessly perspire for all-the-cornered human needs.

Please do not feel that this article is launched against the West or for any discrimination, but it is single-mined born to inspire all Cambodians and Asians to feel that they are totally equal to all other people of any country in the world (as what stipulated in the Universal Declaration of human Rights and other humanitarians legal instruments) and to wake them up from their idle beds and sticky backgrounds.

Please do not hesitate to throw me any comment, suggestion, criticisms or other participations concerning this mentally inspirational article. Again, this article is just for betterments for Cambodians and Asians and this betterment is just right in front of them, and as example for other countries in all part of the world to know that why Cambodia and Asia are weak for too long.
