Cornhole Game Gains Speed After Carson Palmer Hosts Tournament

Author: David Roth

When Carson Palmer announced that he was going to host a charity cornhole tournament to benefit the Lighthouse Youth Services, there were a lot of questions that needed to be answered. The biggest one was, "What is cornhole?". After the tournament was announced, talk radio shows were flooded with jokes about tournament and lively discussion on why the game would be called such a slightly offensive name.

But, after the chatter settled down, a whole new group of people were exposed to this game of cornhole. It doesn't matter that most people call it something else like corntoss, bags, bean bag toss, or softshoes. Whatever you call it, its sweeping the country as more and more people are finding out that cornhole is a great way to spend your lazy summer days. Set up a cornhole set at your next BBQ and you will see everyone from kids to grandparents gather around to play a game that doesn't exclude anyone. A game where it can be just as fun to sit on the sidelines and make comments as the players finish out their game. In areas across the midwest, neighbors are getting used to the sound of the cornhole bags hitting the boards until the late hours of the night.

So, thank you Carson Palmer. We've always known that cornhole is a great way to bring the party together. Instead of the kids off playing baseball, the dad's watching the game, and the mom's cooking, now everyone is rallying around to watch and play this sport with the funny name!
