There is never an exact formula for getting a record deal. There are some steps you can take to get noticed though. With a lot of time and effort you could be on your way to getting signed on a record label.

You can attract a major label to hear you and get interested in signing you. Here are some suggestions below.

Always be ready to perform. Sometimes a record executive can put you on the spot. Remember their time is money. Try to sound fresh and have a different sound that they might have not heard much of. Being original is a selling point for them.

If you believe in your talent then spend the money on production and mixing. They will want to listen to a cd of yours and it is important to have a great demo for them.

Get a buzz going on about you. Play clubs and even get a web following. Think of getting a manager if you dont have one. This manager should help you book shows and get you seen by the public.

When you get a following then you have a guaranteed audience when you play shows. This looks good to A&R. If they catch wind of the buzz and see that you already have a built in audience they will get excited about you. Never forger that you are the product.

A personal manager could be useful as well. This person will help set you up with an entertainment lawyer who will help negotiate your contracts to make sure that you dont get messed over in all of your excitement.
