Secrets to Online Internet Forum Debate; Case Study

Author: Lance Winslow

Many people often find themselves over whelmed in opposition in online forum debates. When it starts getting ugly and nasty start laughing to yourself and start using mirroring techniques. What ever they call you modify it a little and say it back to them.

In debating online in political forums for three weeks I practiced this technique and even watched how experienced debaters tried to use it on me back. If they use it on you call them on it. And before you leave show them how you used it on them to make them feel silly for all the things that they called you. Here is an excerpt from an online debate on the subject of gay marriage rights of all things;

Because of the inability of anyone on this forum to listen to reason and admit there is a fringe gay problem, which is slowing your movement and then the attacks on my personal character for pointing it out. I am now showing everyone a mirror. And completely reversing my comments and acting like a hardliner on the other side of the spectrum to balance out the hardliner gays who ONLY call names and play psychological games.

What happens next? Everyone apologizes for being a jerk and then cannot blame you for anything you said back. I tell you it is the funniest friggin thing in the World and it works every time; I have tried it. Consider this in 2006.
