Naturopathic Schools: Innovative Career Paths for Holistic Minds

Author: C. Bailey-Lloyd

Naturopathic Schools are often an alternative educational option to prospective students who are actively seeking a career as a naturopathic doctor (commonly referred to as naturopaths, naturopathic physicians or naturopathic practitioners).

Naturopathy entails a great deal of comprehensive studies in a variety of holistic modalities over a normally four to five-year program. Preparing prospective naturopathic doctors to become licensed as Naturopathic Physicians (NDs), naturopathic schools base their teachings on treating the whole person.

As an in-depth course of study, naturopathic schools offer a standard curriculum in aspects of business; clinical nutrition; homeopathic medicine; naturopathic theories; organs systems; philosophy; therapeutics and therapeutic manipulation; and botanical medicine. In addition, naturopathic school students will learn about the roots of naturopathic medicine. In particular, many do not realize that naturopathy is thousands of years old and is a collection of diverse healing wisdoms comprised of Arabian; Chinese; Egyptian; European; Greek and Indian practices and belief systems.

For those students who are seriously contemplating a career in naturopathy, they should realize that naturopathic school studies are often quite rigorous and require much dedication and attention. In particular, future naturopaths will be diagnosing, treating and caring for patients through a variety of natural healing modalities including but not limited to homeopathic medicine; botanical medicine; clinical nutrition and herbal therapies; naturopathy; Oriental medicine; physical medicine; mind and body medicine (e.g., biofeedback; counseling; stress management; hypnotherapy; etc.) and other natural remedies.

To become *licensed as a naturopathic doctor, students must first successfully complete a naturopathic school program and then sit for a licensing exam to obtain their licensure. *(Individual states vary in licensing requirements. Please review school programs prior to enrollment.)

If you are thinking about enrolling in a Naturopathic School to attain your naturopathic education, feel free to visit more of our Natural Healing Schools at SchoolsGalore.com for more information.
